Axe and Crampon Basics – March 3, 2018 @ 8am

March 3, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am

$20

Adirondack Mountain Rescue's Axe and Crampon Basics class is part of our public training and safety initiative to help prevent accidents in the wilderness before they happen. We're able to bring this class to you at a reduced cost thanks to support from the Petzl Foundation. The foundation has provided all of the equipment we'll use during the class and we're very appreciative for their support.

This class is great for first time winter mountaineers and those who are working to improve their skills. During this class we'll address the following subjects:

- Helmets
- General Safety
- Crampons
- Axes
- Using Crampons and Axes Together
- Self Arrest

Please arrive 20 minutes early to complete paperwork and come dressed properly for the weather. It is advised to also bring food and a beverage. You will be in direct contact with snow so it's advised to wear a water-resistant layer to stay comfortable. 100% of the fee collected for this class goes toward providing these classes and search and rescue operations. Your instructor is a volunteer so NO gratuity please.

Helmets, axes, and crampons are provided. Classes are limited to 6 participants so it is advised to reserve your spot as early as possible.
